re-visiting S40(burning out headlights problem) S40-V40 '00

With 35k on my S40, the only problem that I continue to have is replacing my low beams (DRL's turned off!) every 3-4 thousand miles...1500-2500 miles if I turn them back on! Now, I know that other owners have said that these bulbs are covered under warranty...but my dealer does not!!!! Its simple enough to do(Except when the temp drops below zero) and I make sure that my fingers do not come in contact with any part of the bulb! Does low temp bulb grease help????? One interesting comment....My wifes '00 V70 with the DRL's on all the time has had only 2 bulbs burn out in almost 2 years AND then Volvo issues a SB on her wagon (and presumably S70's) for some front and rear bulb changes AND some sort of very small voltage regulator change to the headlights.......like her car really needs it!!!!! Is there a fix for the S40 headlights!!!!! Happy Holidays..............Bill
