Re: help..squeaking S40-V40 2000

I heard the squeeking start a couple days ago (Wednesday). I drove the rest of the day and the next day (Thursday). It's been sitting until I took the car in for service today (Wednesday). The service tech told me that it probably is the rear brake pads.

Is there any chance that I could have worn the rotor that quickly? The difference in price between new pads and new pads + rotors is about $300. That's pretty steep.

All in all, I am quite disappointed that I have to be changing my brakes so soon. I only have 14,500 miles.
