chance to add 98v70 std to stable V70-XC70

Thanks Klaus. Good advice. I was not very thorough when I drove it because I was not real serious and it was at the end of a long day of helping a friend find an economical hatchback in a town 120 miles from my home.

Now that my "manager" has indicated that it could be, at a minimum, a good replacement for the 98 V90 (which has the ultimately fatal rear leaf spring sag syndrome), I may have to take a second look.

The car looks good--silver w/charcoal leather, 3rd seat, only a couple of nicks and dings, molding and bumpers painted to match body.

The salesman showed me the service book complete with stamps each 10k, but there are no other records or recepts. It got a timing belt and cabin air filter last year. I suspect it is as sound as one can expect.

The real issue is what to expect to break or wear out next. (I'll definitely inspect rotors and pads, but those heavy bricks just go through brakes rapidly.)
