new V70 - trip computer Q V70-XC70 1998

Thanks for everybody's ideas.

I pulled out the plug (replacing all the burnt out switch bulbs while I was at it), and it was properly connected. I guess it's possible the wiring isn't connected on the other end or that something's wrong with the switch.

FYI, I'm not seeing the two columns of menu choices under normal operation. If the sun is shining just right, I can faintly see them, just not "lit up".

I also did some more reading on the info switch. Some models seem to get a "DISC" message for "disconnected" when there's a problem with the switch or wiring. Anybody know if this is/is not the case with the 1998 V70? I suppose it's possible that the dealer never activated the trip computer on this particular T-5, but I'd be surprised...
