Oil consumption in 850 GLT Wagon 850 94

Greetings!!! and HELP!!

I am consuming about one quart per 600 miles... being burned in combustion chamber and gives light sooty/oil residue on white bumper and rear door. No leakage anywhere... just eats oil... also does not smoke like it oughta while doing this... can see some particulate/smoke from exhaust when gunning it at roadspeed when backlighted by late afternoon sun. I have heard that this is not an unusual problem and that it centers around fuel injection/induction system and exhausting the crankcase... I am unfamiliar with this 5-holed thing and would love detailed help - IF you know what's up... please call or e-me with advice... Nick Lawrence 859+276-3348 or email curtains8@aol.com.
