I'm puzzled... S70 1998

Picture the area on top of radiator shroud, just bellow the plastic top.
There on the right side is a brown electrical plug, vertically positioned.
If I unplug it, I notice that it really has no male part to go with female conector. What's the point of this? Why does it plug into 'nothing'?
What is the purpose of this?
