Noise in ceiling and bad radio reception S40-V40 2000

I just purchased a 2000 S40 in August, and I am loving it. The only problem I had was a rattle in the ceiling. The dealer fixed it right away and they told me that there was a write-up in the Volvo tech book that showed them how to fix it...Apparently, according to the lead service man, there has been many complaints with the rattling in the ceiling. One bad thing, though, is that the radio is terrible. The reception on the radio is so poor that most of the time I will drive with the radio off. Back in the summer there were a couple of threads regarding the radio, and I can't find them anymore. So my basic question is: Is there a way to fix the reception problem? Can the dealer fix it? or do I need to get a new radio (aftermarket such as an Alpine, Sony or Kenwood)?

Thanks!
