Your trip computer is wrong. There is no way possible that you could get better gas mileage travelling at 100 mph than you would at 65 mph. The areodynamic drag on your car is a square function of speed. The wind drag on your car is four times greater at 100 mph than it is at 50 mph. For an extreme example: I had a van that would get 10 mpg at 90 + mph and get 18 mpg at 60 mph.
