Then why did they have to have the head removed at a "off-site" shop??? Any Volvo service dept worth its salt should have the tools/know-how to remove and inspect the head!

From what I understand the valve guides can be inspected with the valve cover and head off(as on other cars), but they are not sold alone/each....you would have to get a Volvo rebuilt head or a OEM unit. kinda messed up I think....unless there is a good reason??

find another dealer service dept ASAP.....two months....a red flag should have poped up for you weeks ago!
