1998 S70 WHITE SMOKE. S70

MY 1998 s70 194Kmiles is occasionally spewing white smoke.. it has done this since about 170K and probably did so before i bought the car too.. i have never thought much of it because it was not too bad and it went away fast. tonight it spewed white smoke that was so thick that it blocked out the light behind the car? any suggestion clause..
this car had to get an emissions waver in GA this year and forever because some code in the computer can not be cleared..
