You also want to check the tranny mount. I am not that familiar with the P2 model cars, but some of the 850/70 cars have had them break. Usually because the engine mount on the right side broke and the additional movement had bad effect on the tranny side.

Have someone else shift the car to R while you look under the hood. But watch out for your toes :)
