Amsoil S60

I have never used it, but expect it's pretty good oil. I've been turned off by their sleazy, snake-oil marketing, however. Just make sure whatever you put in the crankcase fits the requirements listed in your owners manual. I've generally used synthetics like Mobil 1 and Castrol Syntec. My 03 Volvo S60 owners manual specifically recommends Castrol products. Who am I to argue with the engineers that designed my car?

If you want to go beyond 7,500 OCI you will want to change filters every 3,750 or so and top up. Also send samples off for analysis.

Results of a long term test of Amsoil, Mobil 1 and other oils are reported in the link below. Amsoil had some viscosity problems in the test, as I recall. But this is basically just one guy sending samples off for analysis once every 1000 miles -- one car, one guy, a lot of samples...
