Fan Blower... Climate Control Unit S70 1998

Just another helpful hint. If you put the blower on auto AND the vent selector on auto, when you start the car the ECC will go through a self diagnostic check. The blower will turn on for a second, and all of the vents will be operated. If anything fails, the orange lights of the AC and recirc switches will flash orange 20 times. Then the system will revert to manual controls only.

If you ECC unit does this, it is probably working correctly.

Please make it a habit to always leave the AC switched on and the recirc off. This is what the system expects to operate normally. I don't think I have ever had the temp controls at 60F or 85F, they were both always set to 74F. Best climate control I have ever had in any car.

Another note, in auto mode the blower will not start when the engine is cold and heat is desired. It usually takes about 1 mile of driving before the blower starts up, about the same time as when the temp gauge in the dash starts to move.
