Oops. My mistake.

I had to replace the column because the tilt mechanism finally gave up.

You DO NOT have to replace the column. Just use "easy-outs" to remove the shear-bolts on the old ignition switch and replace with a new one. You can also drill out the old shear-bolts.

Probably not more than 30 minutes to do.
