S40 services S40-V40 2005

ALL cars have a PCV system and yes, they need to be serviced. If your 2.4L is normally aspirated, there is a PCV valve close the the throttle body. If it is a turbo, there is a valve just before the turbo in the air intake.

Both engines have an oil separator box under the intake manifold which will need servicing in about another 120K miles, or so. If you use synthetic motor oil, it will help keep the PCV system cleaner.

At 42K, unless you are experiencing problems, I suggest asking about the valve at your 60K check up.
