I sure hope that someone has the right answer for me. I've been at this for a month and still no luck.
I have read all of the threads on this forum and did not find an answer to my problem. I have also tried Matts, Swedespeed, and Just Answer. I have stumped them all.
I have a 1994 850 non-turbo. I am not getting any spark. The car just quit on me one time while I was driving and has not started since. I have replaced: wires, plugs. cap, rotor, coil with power stage, camshaft positioning sensor-twice (new), and crankshaft positioning sensor. The code keeps coming up 314-for the camshaft positioning sensor. I have checked all of the fuses. Both cams are turning. I have 132,000 on it. Still no start or spark. I checked all of the fuses. I am getting fuel to the rail at the schraeder valve and injectors but checking with the NOID light I am not getting a pulse. I replaced the main EFI relay- the one by the radiator. I have ordered a fuel pump relay and put it in today. I checked the resistance on the coolant temperature sensor and it was within limits. I went ahead and ordered a new one as well as well as an OEM thermostat (192) and have not put them in yet . I checked the voltage at the CMP and I am getting 12 volts on pin 1, 5 volts on pin 2, and 0 volts on pin 3 with the key in the on position. While cranking I get the same readings- no pulse. I checked the ground, pin 3, and it was 0 ohms to ground. I even tried starting it in neutral but still no joy. Thinking that maybe I had a bad CMP I took it back and got a new one, to no avail. I did not get an OEM. I got them from Auto Zone- Duralast. I also went ahead and got a new fuel pump relay. Still no joy. I went to the junkyard and got a new ignition ECU all of the numbers matched up to my old one. I first checked the codes and it was all 111 on all three ECMs. So I tried to start it again and I came back with the 314 and no start.
I have checked the battery cables and all of the grounds that I could see or feel, and all seem to be OK. I double checked all of the grounds that are in front of the battery and they are all ok.
While reading through, someone said that they had replaced one of the "J" overload relays and it solved his problem. Does anyone know how to check these or which one I need to change?
Also, some said that they re-soldered the connections on the radio suppresion relay and this solved the no-start problem. I think that this was in a 740/940 though. Does anyone know if there is such a monster in the 850? I could not find any reference to one anywhere...
I am just at a loss as to what to check next.
Any other ideas???
Thanks, Don
