Auto Transmission Swap 850

After 275000 miles, my auto box is acting up. I did change the PNP switch last year, which cured a lot of my problems, but now the atf has a burnt smell together withgrinding and erratic gear changes indicating it's on the last legs. My question is this: If I swap my 2.0 auto box for another 2.0 auto box, will the electronics have to be changed as well, or will my existing ecu do? I do know that in some late 90's Foeds, when the auto box was changed, the car had to go to the main dealer to be reset on the Ford computer. Any help here would be great.
Thanks
Pat
