Rear Shock Replacement - single vs both replacement V70-XC70 2000

The right rear shock has failed and has been placed by dealer under the Volvo warranty. Due to the AWD function or other matters is it advisable to replace both shocks as a pair? The left rear shock is good condition.

I post this question because I know that conventional wisdom on many autos is to replace rear shock as a pair.
