Model Year Specific Issues V70-XC70

Will, have a look at the "door stays", as I calls 'em, the struts which hold the doors open and prevent door swing from hyper-extending the hinges. The brackets at the pillar ends have the habit of breaking out of their welds, causing lots of groaning when the doors are opened and shut, and eventually requiring repair. There are a few shade-tree repair methods out there, which work, more or less, depending on the skill of the workman and the extent of the damage, and there may be scads of vehicles which haven't encountered this problem, but I've got it now. Hope this helps in the decision-making process. I bought my vehicle ('98 V70, used, 160k km) from a dealer I've been with since the late '80s, have been driving it for 4 years - about 30K km, and there haven't been any major surprises. It's a mite gutless, compared to my '88 765, but that's to be expected. On my next big lottery win, I think I'll get a nice turbo stuffed in there (grim/grin).
Regards, Garth.
