Haldex AWD V70-XC70 2000

Latest news says that Volvo bought a liscence from Audi allowing them to intoduce the new Haldex AWD system in their cars. Haldex and Audi worked together to produce a new 100% electronically controlled AWD system and sold a liscence to Volvo for the use of the technology. Now how come this system is being introduced in the S60 rather than Volvo's flagship Cross Country when it comes to AWD? It would've been neat for the new XC to have a different system, hopefully it'll get in there soon.

Any mechanically inclined gurus here would be kind enough to explain how this new hi-tech AWD should work in more details? Would appreciate that. Thanks!
