Re: May have changed my mind V70-XC70 1998

You are wise to look at all the resources before you purchase. I was one of those who spent the time and did the research but dismissed some of what I was reading as "sour grapes" from disgruntled owners. However one cannot ignore that the newer Volvo's have had teething problems. The first 18 months with my V70 AWD was the most frustrating experience I have had with a car. Now that I have the car out of this toddler phase things seem to have smoothed out. You remark that you have had nothing but a in for an oil change experience with your Toyota. I doubt you will have the same with a Volvo, perhaps you will but the recent history suggests otherwise. If you expect to drive off the lot and not see the dealer for anything other that scheduled maintenance then you had better pause and evaluate your tollerance for warranty service. I will admit I have had a poor experience with my V70 and now that the problems have gone away (for now?) that I enjoy the car. It is quick, fun to drive, makes sense compared to SUV's, and has a solid feel to it, however do not discount the poor ownership reports you read here and elsewhere. I wish would have listened closer to the reports of problems, If I had I would have avoided many a teeth gnashing phone call to VCNA. Good luck with your decision.
