Re: Poor Radio Reception 850 1996

The tech bulletins I have seen show a procedure which shows how to

clean the antenna. essentially:

Turn the radio on to extend the antenna then spray it with WD-40, let it soak a minute, then wipe it dry with a cloth.

make the antenna go up and down completely 5 times.

clean it again.

it goes on to tell how to clean the sleeve that the antenna retracts in to

by removing the cap retainer and doing the clean thing on the sleeve.

you can test to check if the antenna is within specs.

you should get no more than 1 Ohm when testing:

the outer part of the plug that jacks in to the stereo and the bare metal (ground) next to the antenna

the tip of the plug and the tip of the antenna.
