Modern engines have many sensors and electrical connections that are suseptible to corrosion. You could wash your PC with a hose and let it dry and it will still work but it is not a good idea. Washing your engine with a high pressure cleaner is a very bad idea in the long run. It may not cause any immediate damage but down the road you may suffer from hard to find electrical problems. Most mechanics will not recommend washing your engine with a pressure washer or even a hose. You can clean your engine with damp rags or some sort of cleaner in a more controlled manner and try not to get the many connectors wet.
