After washing down the engine, it will not start. Help! S70 1998

My friend washed the engine down last night and this morning, I can't get it to start. The battery is new. It almosts starts and then cuts out. I have had this car for over 10 years and it only has 90,000 miles on it & is due for the 90,000 mile service. I'm visiting a small town outside of Dallas, Texas & I don't know of any mechanics. At this point, I would have to have her towed...Usually, she purrs like a kitten. I've never, ever had this happen before. Any suggestions, advice or name of a good mechanic in the area would be helpful.
