My wife's non-turbo 1995 850 wagon with 65,000 miles just developed an oil leak this week. Now every morning there is a 2-3 inch diameter oil spot under the car. It appears to collect very slowly where the engine and transmission meet coming from a small notch on bottom back of engine. This "notch" in the bottom back of the engine is just left (ie toward passenger) of an engine mount or torque bushing that attaches to the front of the car.
I have used Mobil 1 for the last 15,000 miles (ie 50k to 65k) and change every 3500. Prior used Valvoline every 2000.
Last week these services were done:
Oil change/filter (Mobile 1)
Radiator flush/fill (Volvo coolant)
Replaced PNP switch (Dealer)
Replaced driver side upper strut mount/bushing (Dealer)
Alignment
Any ideas? I remember reading of turbo leaks. No turbo here. Synthetic oil causing leaks in older engines from gunk removeal and decreased viscosity- possible? Flame trap causing increased crankcase pressure?? Or bad luck and simply a leaking rear seal of some type.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
