Gas gauge problem 850 1993

Klaus,

Finally got around to tackling my gas gauge sender issue. My 850 is a '93 and after pulling the carpet back, I found two access panels on the passenger side secured by 10mm nuts. The larger has 5 nuts, and the smaller has 4.

The larger panel has a bundle of wires going into it, and two large gas or vacuum lines, (and a smaller line) that is connected to a round plastic piece about 4 inches in diameter.

Under the smaller panel, there is a round 3 inch whitish plastic piece with a smaller round white insert in the center. There are two wires coming out the top. I'm thinking this is the sender you described.

I don't see anything like the forbidding plastic screw you mentioned. There are two small pins sticking up from the outside of the disc with the two wires. I'd like to get some more advice before I break anything.

Also, if this IS the sender, the wires go into the bundle coming out of the larger access panel. I guess I could cut open the bundle and track down a connector.

Thanks in advance for your time.
