Stuck in Park S80 2002

Wife stopped coming at the driveway entrance to get mail and could not get her car out of park. I quickly determined that it was not a shift interlock problem or shifter knob interlock issue. The shifter was actually pulling on the linkage to the quadrant but the quadrant would not budge. With a bit of encouragement using a piece of wood while wifey pulled with moderate pressure on the shifter it came out of park with a snap and worked perfectly afterwards.

The front wheels where at or near the bottom of the dip in the curb and I assume there was pressure on the park lock mechanism but that would be no different than parking on a hill. Emergency brake was not used.
She says it happened once before in a flat parking lot but she may have had front wheels up against a divider which could also put pressure on the lock.

Anyone have thoughts, common problem? Yes, I know let the car settle before ramming it into park and or use the e brake then into P.
Anyone had this happen?

Klaus?
