MOMO SHIFT KNOB PART 2..... C70 1998

Ok guys, wanna give you all an update with my shift knob on my 5 speed 1998 Volvo C70.

I have taken the advice on this board as to how to replace the original knob with a MOMO model.

Well...I have tried ( along with my 6ft,200lbs,very athletic brother-in-law )to remove it by twisting and pulling it out...NO LUCK BOYS !!!

This thing is not coming out !!!

So...here is my question ???

Right below the actually shift knob, there is a plastic ring which is between the boot and the actual knob...is this piece suppose to also come off, along with the knob...or am I only to take the knob off ???

I have also lifted the boot, to try to figure this out...to no avail.

So...I NEED SOME HELP ON THIS ONE !!!

Thanks again.
