Stupid plastic parts. The rear 12V outlet attaches from behind the plastic console, your console must be removed to fix this. Probably with a large washer found at a hardware store.

For right now, I think the autoparts stores carry entension cords so that the kids can use the front lighter. They also come with splitters so 2 appliances can be plugged in at the same time.

Wally world or Target might also have them.
