Heat repair questions 850

OK. Finally getting to finish the head gasket repair that I started back in December 2009. I am looking for some direction on a few small details.

1) I have some of the head gasket that is stuck to the block mating surface. I have tried kerosine and alcohol but I can get it off. I have tried plastic scrapers but it is not budging. Any ideas?

2) When reattaching the water pipe and thermostat housing to the head should I use any type of sealer on the gaskets or the screws?

3) The service manual says to oil the head bolts. What type of oil?

Thanks.
