2002 V70 Intermittent starting problem when warm V70-XC70

I think the inday shop has a volvo specific reader, they specialize in Volvos. They sell a ton of them, we bought our there. They said it showed a ECM 5200 rpm sensor faulty signal but only a one time fualt 274 cycles ago. Sometimes when it's cranking over and over the tach will bounch around, one time it just sat at 0 so could it be a heat induced fault in the crank sensor. Does that ever happen?
