Codes 141 and 142 850 1994

Well, it was good to get the tranny serviced, but the car still acting strange; it shudders, yesterday the engine died when i was coasting to a stop. There are no fault codes on A1 or A2, but on the ABS i get 141 and 142. i think that checking the brake pedal switch should be pretty straightforward, it is either on or off. But other than cleaning the terminals on the pedal sensor by the brake booster, is there a way to check the sensor to see if it OK, or should i just order a replacement if the 141 code continues to come up?

by the way, the ABS light comes on periodically, i was assuming it was dirty speed sensors (i have done those once or twice) but this time is something else.

thanks to all

Charlie
