On a 2001 model, you will not be able to get an Alpine system. The system in the 2001 models is very close to that of the S80s and the new V70s. The car will need to be connected to the VADIS cart to download software in order to make the changer active. I am pretty sure that the Alpine is compatible. In the 2000 x40s it was a different (and much simpler) story.
