Right tire size? 850 1997

I recently purchased my second Volvo - an 97 855 AWD. Until recently we had a 97 760 Turbo Wagon. I am looking for winter tires and though the owner's manual for the 850 suggests that I use 185/65 x 15 winters the dealer is suggesting that I use 205/55 x 16. The car presently has 205/55 x 16 ZR tires mounted (including the spare) despite the label in the filler cap area indicating that it has 205/55 x 16 tires. So what size tires do I need for winter? Any suggestions?
