2000 V70 XC; Are the Behr oil cooler units known for spinging leaks after 10 years? V70-XC70

This car has an ugly oil leak at only 81k miles. Underneath is ugly wet with oil.

As I looked upwards on the downhill (back) side of the transverse motor, it did not appear the the leaks were originating above the oil pan section; almost certainly not from the head gasket interface. It looked pretty dry up there.

I tried to infer from the windblown path of the oil mess where it might be coming from and the Behr oil cooler unit looked very suspicious. When I pushed on that black plastic surround on that thing it looked like there was oil in between the plastic surround and the aluminum core.

Any insights on known systemic failure modes and diagnosis on this would be appreciated.
