Klaus, I could be mistaken and making this out to be more of a problem than it is for this guy, but I think when it doesn't think its closed you have troubles locking the hatch. I think it might also screw with the alarm, but I'm not entirely sure on that...

On topic, check the bundle of wires back in your trunk. I think they occasionally get pulled/crimped and eventually break.. Sorry I can't tell you exactly which ones though.. Just gotta find the switch and work backwards
