On Car Fax info

Car Fax or any other reporting system works only as well as the info that is reported. No one can rely on them to get a collision free used car, not going to happen.

The best bet is to get a really good mechanic to look at the car and get an unbiased opinion.

Of course, a $450 car will not be perfect. That is less than its value as a parts car, except for 1993 - the odd year. My 1998 V70R was crashed before I bought it, no bad news from Carfax, but the bumper was a V70 and the hood didn't close properly. I negotiated with the seller with this problem and we came to a price agreement.

Your 850 radiator does not have an oil cooler, so you can cheaply replace it rather than brazing the current one back together. Besides, a new radiator would have been needed after 17 years. Just make sure the mounting points are straight.

I am surprised that the seller had the collision info and you didn't get it.

Want a pretty good V70R for $3K? LOL
