T5 with snow tires vs XC V70-XC70 2001

I am trying to decide between getting the T5 and putting on snow tires or going with the XC (both 2001 model year). I would prefer the T5 option but am concerned, living in the northeast, about getting stuck in heavy snow. Do people think that the T5 with snow tires would be enough or should I go with the XC.

Thanks

Gary
