Changing the accessory/drive belt: HELP 850 94

I am trying to change the accessory / drive belt on my 1994 850 Turbo. (2.3T). I have the new style belt that is a bit longer and covers a larger section on the alternator pulley.

While I consider myself a pretty good shadetree mechanic, this one has me stumped! I see no way how the 1743mm belt would fit. I have stretched it like crazy and it does not even come on the last power steering pulley, let alone then pushing it below the idler.

Any ideas ? IS there something going wrong here. Thanks.
