Hi John:

I really appreciate all of your replies as it sounds like you have many years of experience dealing with Volvos.

Speaking about engine heat... I mentioned this as the engine bay of the S80 appears to be so well insulated and/or sealed from convection cooling that after having returned my S80 to my enclosed garage after a normal run the top of the side panels over the front wheel wells are almost too hot to touch after 2 hrs of just sitting there. I've owned no other car that retains engine heat within the engine bay as the S80 T6.

While this does not alarm me too much it is just another example of the S80 being anomalous -- just like the mysterious loss of coolant we've been discussing.

Don't misunderstand me -- my wife and I are enjoying the S80 immensely -- simply the best car we've owned in all respects -- Volvo has done a great job in its design and value-for-money. Each week we become more pleased with it.
