removing rear shocks S80 98

I'm trying to remove the rear shocks and am having a very difficult time breaking free the nut which secures the bottom of the shock to the support. I've tried using liquid wrench and as much strength that I have with a 1/2 inch socket drive but no luck. Any suggestions short of an impact wrench?
