Removing the headlight wipers & shaft? 850 1995

How difficult is it to remove the 1/8" diameter shaft that sticks out a few inches
near the headlamps which is used to mount the small wipers?
Just want a cleaner look without having to constantly replace those darn wiper blades. Plus the blade gets stuck sometimes in the up position whenever I spray the windshield.
