The reason for 2000 models is as follows the remote is not as safe as the controls mounted on the wheel, there fore the factor will not give the remote. Now if you dealer install the the 2000 kit you get oth sets of controls or so you should. For 2001 factory gets only wheel controls and dealer install gets only remote. There was a change to the column that currently doesn't allow for the wheel mount.
