S70 wouldn't start S70 1999

My S70 refused to start Sat. morning. It did start and run VERY rough

for a couple seconds and then died. It would not re-start.

I waited about an hour and tried again but still would not start. After cranking on it for a couple minutes, I could smell gas. Had it towed

to local Volvo dealer, where they looked at it the following Mon. morn.

It started fine then. They are telling me that the valves were

"floating", allowing the engine to crank as if it had no compression.

They say this is normal and I am to blame for using the car like a

family driver (ie stop and go and short trips.) Any one else have

problems like this and did you get an acceptable solution. I do not

feel like the dealers explanation is adequate. The car does get at

least 100 miles a week of high speed highway driving. Any info would

be appreciated.
