fuel door lock 850 1993

I just found out after numerous gas stops that the 850 has an electric solenoid lock on the fuel door which just decided to work, only it did not release. Is there a button in the passenger compartment for this thing, or is it tied to the ignition? We are in the condo in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with all of my books and tools in a storage trailer pending my finding a small shop space.
