1995 850 no start and no OBD 850

My 1995 850 GL was running fine up until the other day when I went to start it and it barely fired, but didn't start and has shown no fire since. I feared a broken timing belt at first, but the cam is turning.

I can hear the fuel pump running and I have spark so I'm a little baffled. But the strange symptom is that I went to check my OBD codes and can't get it to light up at all. (yes, I'm sure I'm doing it right, but get nothing from any of the useful sockets in either box A or B). I have'nt had any trouble with this car for two years and though I know the OBD worked back then, I don't know if went bad at the same time as the no start or some time in the past.

I'd appreciate any input if the OBD failure is a symptom or a different problem and any suggestions on either getting OBD working or diagnosing the no start without it.

Thanks, Andy
