1998 S70 lambda sond light on S70 1998

Check for vacuum leaks, and since you've got a few weeks, it'd be worth it to replace most of the vacuum lining (unless you have concrete evidence showing that they've been done.. 12 years is a lot for the car, rubber elbows wear..) because its likely you have a leak. You might want to clean out the PCV system (possibly replace, your call) if there's signs of it being dirty. Best way to know it needs attention is if you're driving about (so the car is warm) then with the engine still running, pull the dipsitck. Puffs of air= clogged PCV.. If there's no air, its very likely you have no PCV issues (so you don't have to do the 5-hr job...) but you should do a secondary check (with the engine running) and pull off the hose at the top of your engine. The hose should be providing some suction, so put a corner of tissue paper (or some other lightweight paper) and see if it pulls it in.. If not, you might have to do the work..

Also, pull off the flame trap thats on your air intake. Give it a good cleaning, if the screen's still there, THROW IT OUT. Its main purpose is to clog.. Do this before you check for PCV clogs.

Its not unheard of for an O2 sensor to have gone after 12 years so it could just be replacing that. I'm going to guess that in the end you might have to replace it anyway (your car will foul itself over time with a vacuum leak..) but don't do it until necessary (unless you want to spend the 150..)

Intake/Exhaust leaks as well as MAF and fuel pressure can all cause the O2 (lambda sensor) to throw a code.

If you're not driving it "like its stolen," are you really driving?
