1998 S70 lambda sond light on S70 1998

For what it is worth, my hydraulic tensioner is 185K old on my 1998 V70 and I may or may not replace it at 200K.

The P0172 is usually caused by a vacuum leak, not the O2 sensor or the EVAP for the charcoal cannister.

If you have a turbo, there is a hard to reach elbow just below the #1 cyl intake runner. Also check the PTC for cleanliness. For non-turbo, check every vacuum line and elbow including the flame trap. Same for turbo, but that has extra vacuum lines at the turbo. There is also a very long vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator from close to the air cleaner.

Turbos need copper spark plugs, NA engines use those silly 3 prong plugs. Make sure yours are correct.

Whille inspecting the vacuum lines, check the ECT sensor under the thermostat housing, if it is leaking get a new one.
