50 is the stock size. Unless you really know the car you won't notice too much of a difference if any with a 50 profile. The reason the 70s don't rub is to more sub clearance. As for bending a rim, its pretty tough to do that with a 205/50/16. I live in DC and FL. It its not a sink hole, its a frost heave. I run 215/40/17s and have never bent a rim in 5 years.
