rotors - replace pads while resurfacing? 850 96

Hello all,

My 96 wagon has developed a minor shudder under firmer branking (not panic stops involving ABS. The dealer tells me I need my rotors ground, but that I have good brake pad thickness.

My questions are,

1) will I want to replace the pads when i get the rotors ground?

2) If yes, then should I wait a while longer, until the pads are thinner? (the shuddering is not that dramatic) Will this make the rotors worse?

3) Should I just replace the rotors (my non-dealer mechanic tells me he sees lots of problems with original rotors, and he has another brand he likes better)?

Thanks for your help.

Rich
